If you are trying to save time by conserving mana, then it isn't going to work. The mana or time you save will be spent bandaging or healing yourself from the mob hitting you while you beat it to death (which will be slow
- your melee damage is tiny compared to your spell damage.
Far better to root them in place and nuke them with spells. When the root breaks, then re-root them or use Natures Grasp to root them, move out of melee range and
continue to nuke them. I'm not sure at your level, but at later levels, starfire is more efficient but wrath does more DPS.
-RareBeast: What are you trying to tell me? That I can out-tank & out-DPS them all?
Druid Trainer:
No RareBeast. I'm trying to tell you that when you have read the Feral Druid Numbers thread, you won't have to.
Rareone(80 Hunter), Rarebull(80 Mage), Raress(80 Priest), Raredeath(80 Death Knight), Raredude(80 Shaman)
Rarelord(80 Paladin), Rarebones(80 Rogue), Rarelock(80 Warlock), Rarebob(80 Warrior)I just dinged 40 on my druid today (squeel) and I have a few questions.
I've been leveling as balance because I'm playing with my BF's paladin, and I didn't feel as much pressure to go feral for speed (I loathe tauren
cat form). My new moonkin form makes me do a happy dance, though. I really haven't been putting too much emphasis on my kill tactics...I just fire off wrath and starfire and moonfire and insect swarm without much rhyme or reason. Now that I have moonkin form though, I'd like to start getting into the habit of being as efficient as possible.
I know ferals don't really care about their weapon DPS, but it seems to me that it would be most efficient for me as balance to fire off 3 or 4 spells and then melee the rest of the mob's health in order to regain a chunk of that mana back. My question: is there a weapon best suited to this? I don't fully understand how the mana regen aspect
of moonkin form works. Should I be using a faster weapon for more chances to proc? Or a slower weapon in order to generate more mana per swing? Does it matter?
Furthermore, is this playstyle really the most efficient for balance? Should I just
be spamming wrath and moonfire and not worrying about melee? That seems silly to me. But I don't know.
Any druids out there that can shed some light on all this for me?
Thanks!
